In design when an illustrator uses transparency it can help add meaning to the piece. Using physical transparency in graphic design like overlapping can add foreground, middle ground and background and enhance the work by how it is interpreted. Text effects what can and cannot be seen which, can also change the way parts of an image is read. When using a camera the eye of this object can cut out areas and create its own frame. In my piece I used overlapping to block out part of an image and push one forward in order to add the foreground element. The lettering was used to change the way one would see my image of the woods and my abstract interpretation. Rhythm draws the audience’s eyes across the page. For example diagonals can draw the eye from up right to down and to the left.
